I’m sure you have seen the face of the Laughing Buddha, but have you ever thought about this being the face of God? Every face that we see is the face of God, whether that is each other, Krishna, Jesus, or Budai, the Laughing Buddha. Every person, place, or thing is an avatar of God.
Budai lived during the first century in China. He was a Zen monk who was known for his happiness and jolly appearance. The jolliness of Budai, which survives now in the form of his appearance as the Laughing Buddha, fully and purely expresses the true nature of everything God is. The Laughing Buddha expresses everything that God is: joy, happiness, laughter, and abundance. Continue reading
